I am the mother of three wild and crazy boys (5,10 & 12) that only have two speeds, flat out and stop. I am the wife of a wonderful, supportive and understanding husband who is also a teacher. I did not complete year 12 and did not enjoy my high school years which were entirely teacher-centred. I knew from an early age that I wanted to become a teacher, but not having completed high school, believed that this goal was out of my reach. I spent 7 years in Darwin, NT and 1 year on Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria, where I renewed my dream and discovered a passion for teaching. This resulted from an opportunity to take over the local playgroup, as well as becoming involved in the initial planning for a Childcare Centre on the Island. My time in the Northern Territory and life experience has sparked a keen interest in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education. Finally after moving back to Brisbane I grabbed hold of the opportunity to pursue my dreams, although, not in Early childhood, but Secondary. Fast forward, 6 years later and I am in my final year of education. I am looking forward to seeing what journey lies ahead, both academically and personally.
